Building a Modern Elementary School Designed for Learning, Community, and Long-Term Value
The new George T. Nasuti Elementary School is taking shape at the former Barry Field site in Woonsocket as a 133,000-square-foot Pre-K through 4th-grade facility, delivered through a design–build partnership with the Woonsocket Education Department, Rhode Island Department of Education, and Jonathan Levi Architects. The goal is to create a modern, welcoming school that supports both students and the surrounding community.
The building will feature modern classrooms, a media center, music room, medical and student support spaces, a cafeteria with a performance stage, and a full gymnasium that can be used for school and community events. Designed to meet NE-CHPS Version 4.0 standards, the school focuses on energy efficiency, healthy indoor spaces, and flexible areas that adapt to today’s learning needs
Ongoing coordination between the project team, designers, and trade partners keeps the work moving smoothly while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and schedule.
